Brand and Marketing

The Brand and Marketing team focuses on positioning VIU as a first-choice university, building brand awareness, managing the visual identity, and supporting the vision and goals of the institution as a whole.

Our services

  • Graphic design
  • Branding advice and education
  • Marketing planning and implementation
  • Photography help and support
  • Videography help and support
  • Social media help and education
  • Web content creation and updates

Our design and support services are free. However, if you need something printed, the graphic design would be free but you’ll still need a budget for printing or any specialized photography we can’t provide. If you need to promote your program, we can help with a marketing strategy but you’ll need to have funds to cover any production costs.

Connect with us for support

Before accessing our services, it is helpful to spend some time defining the goals of the marketing activity your department would like to initiate. We recommend considering the following questions to get started:

  • What are you trying to achieve?
  • Who’s the audience?
  • How will you measure success?
  • If you’re creating a product, how will it get distributed?

If you need help getting started and identifying the best strategy to achieve results, please contact us.

Reviewing branded material

We are here to support the VIU community in creating, reviewing and approving public-facing branded material. To ensure that new materials meet VIU’s Brand Standards, please connect with us when producing:

  • Outdoor advertising
  • Print materials
  • Promotional videos
  • Transit, radio and digital ads
  • Social media assets

Job requests

The Job Request system allows us to queue and track projects and provides a place to host all the information and details about your project.

Here are some things to consider before you submit a job request:

  • Content – Content should be final. Please do not submit a job request with draft content.
  • Timeframes – If you have a hard deadline from the project (such as a specific event) please tell us.
  • Project approval – If you’re not the final approver of the work, please let us know who that person is.
  • Budget (as required) – If your project includes things like buying ad space or printing large quantities, we need to know how much money you have available to spend.
